a few tips

for helping me to improve my service to you

  1. FOR THE QUOTE – Of course the most important thing is that you provide me with the file you would like to have translated, edited or subtitled. I can provide you with even better service if you can give me more information on the file, such as who the target audience is, and of course the deadline. If you have terminology lists or comparable texts that have already been published, you may always send these to me as well. As soon as I have all the information I need, I will provide you with a personalized quote. This is the first step in a great working relationship!

  2. FILE FORMAT – For translations, you can send me files in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint. A surcharge applies for PDF files. For editing work, Word documents are the most convenient for me, but this is certainly not a requirement. For video files, the formats .avi, .mpg, .mpeg, .wmv en .mxf are the easiest to work with. Other formats are subject to a surcharge since I have to convert the files before I can work with them.

  3. TRANSLATION: A MATTER OF QUALITY – In 2011, the translator Chris Durban bundled many frequently asked questions (and the answers) in a handy guide to buying translations. This valuable publication discusses topics such as the difference between a translator and an interpreter, why it's a good sign when your translator asks you questions during the translation process, and how you can keep the risk of poor results to a minimum.
